Our program

Children are curious learners who naturally investigate, inquire and engage in the world around them. Our innovative program supports this notion as we use the children’s ideas, curiosities and wonderings to inform our curriculum, offering endless opportunities for learning.  By listening to children and identifying their interests we create unique learning opportunities, keeping children excited and engaged.

At The Learning Space, our curriculum is designed to create a balance between adult intentionality and child autonomy. The planning cycle takes account of both facets of our role in education to make sure that children are engaged in learning and develop the dispositions for lifelong learning. Our approach allows educators to consult deeply with children during the planning and documentation process. It encourages higher order thinking skills and helps children influence their learning.

Observation, documentation, assessment and planning are most effective when they are matched to the needs of the child. In order to achieve this, we aim to understand children’s thinking, through considering all the ways in which they communicate. Our curriculum is designed to allow educators to provoke child-led conversations which in turn will create Possible Lines of Development.

The Learning Space is a space for all children to learn and develop at an individual pace according to his or her unique, individual way.
